Overall Scope Automotive VA/VE Engineer with a strong focus on mechanical design and mechatronics.The current product portfolio includes EGR systems, solenoids, injection-molded components, throttle bodies, and pedal assemblies.The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of solenoid and electric motor operating principles, cast or molded housings, as well as CAD/FEA design and DFMEA.Responsibilities and Duties:• Develop and evaluate cost reduction ideas through technical and commercial analysis, as well as data collection throughout the entire product lifecycle (Value Engineering + Value Analysis).
• Increase profitability by driving design changes that reduce overall BOM cost.
• Facilitate cross-functional workshops to generate cost reduction ideas.
• Lead technical discussions and project meetings with multidisciplinary teams.
• Visit suppliers to analyze manufacturing processes, tooling, and costs.
• Work with Test and Validation teams to plan and ensure timelines for validating cost reduction initiatives.
• Present cost reduction initiatives to internal and external stakeholders.
• Support design teams by proposing more cost-effective manufacturing alternatives to meet product targets.
• Provide reports related to cost decisions (activity status, progress toward savings targets, implementation tracking, and workshop planning).
• Manage engineering changes through established systems using ECN processes.
• Lead cross-functional, multi-plant teams without direct authority.
• Participate in product design and development (including test fixture design when required).
• Create CAD models and engineering drawings.
• Perform development and project cost analysis.
• Develop specialized design validation tests when required.
• Define data acquisition methods to determine product testing requirements.
• Document investigations through formal engineering reports.
• Lead and facilitate Lean workshops, analyze current state, and develop future state proposals.
• Build a Lean culture by training, coaching, and mentoring all organizational levels in Lean tools and methodologies.
• Identify improvement opportunities in production processes and develop action plans.
• Optimize workflows within the plant.
• Schedule and execute internal audits.
• Responsible for plant layout improvements and equipment positioning.Job Requirements:• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering.
• Strong project management skills to execute cost-saving initiatives.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills.
• Highly motivated and results-oriented individual with the ability to drive approvals and achieve objectives.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical/electrical design.
• Experience with CAD systems such as SolidWorks.
• Knowledge of VAVE and strong organizational skills.
• High attention to detail.
• Knowledge of LabVIEW, PLC, or other control software (preferred).
• Experience with Lean tools: VSM, SMED, Kanban, TPM, 5S.
• Experience in time studies and line balancing.
• Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma.
