About the role As an Embedded Software Test Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of embedded software for Carrier’s refrigeration and HVAC control systems. You will play a key role in validating both new and legacy products, contributing to the development of testing strategies and methodologies that support high-quality product releases. This role is idóneo for someone detail-oriented, proactive, and passionate about embedded systems, who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative engineering environment. Key Responsibilities:
- As an Embedded Software Test Engineer, you’ll be responsible for:
- Defining and executing test strategies for embedded software in refrigeration and HVAC control systems
- Collaborating with software, systems, and hardware engineers to understand product requirements and use cases
- Creating and executing test plans and test cases, ensuring alignment with product and functional specifications
- Reviewing requirements and software design documents from a test automation perspective
- Analyzing, interpreting, and reporting test results for system integration and validation
- Supporting both manual and automated testing based on project needs
- Providing proactive feedback to development teams to strengthen product quality
- Contributing to continuous improvement of testing methodologies and automation practices
- Utilizing test equipment such as logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, simulators, and debuggers
- Supporting quality initiatives and fostering a strong quality culture within the team Requirements We are looking for people who are detail-oriented, analytical, and results-driven, with a strong sense of ownership and passion for quality in embedded systems. - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
- 2–4 years of experience in software development and/or testing
- Experience in embedded software or firmware testing
- Knowledge of communication protocols (CAN, I2C, SPI, RS232, RS485)
- Experience in hardware debugging and diagnostic tools
- Experience in test automation using tools such as Python, LabVIEW, or similar
- Familiarity with test tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and simulators
- Experience working in Agile development environments
- Strong communication and teamwork skills Although not necessary, it would be nice if you have:
- Experience with tools such as JIRA, DOORS, IBM RTC
- Experience with CAN tools (CANoe, CANalyzer, PCAN)
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks (Jenkins)
- Experience in HVAC or Refrigeration systems
